First, let me start this review by saying that I think Gillette razors are hands down the best razors in the market place. However, their price point typically sends me to other brands searching for a comparable razor without paying the enormous prices.I received the Gillette Fusion® ProShield⢠Chill Razor for free from Gillette to review, here are my thoughts.Starting with the shaving cream:Great shaving cream overall, lathers onto the face nicely. The only thing I didn't like about the cream was its dispenser. The bottle has edges around where the cream comes out and cream gets stuck all over the place. This is a minor complaint, and I would definitely purchase this cream with my own money. The razor itself:My very first shave with this razor was exceptional. It cut through hair with ease, no tugging or pulling. I do not fully understand what the flexball technology does. It just seemed to swivel when I really didn't want it to. But for a first pass this was by far the best razor I have used. Most importantly, I am now on shave 3 of using the first cartridge, and it already seems to be getting dull. I got significant tugging when shaving around the mustache and chin. It has that feel I am used to when the blade is on its last leg, and at a price of $19 or more with only 3 cartridges, I wouldn't purchase this with my own money. Note: I follow all standard procedures of drying my razor after use and storing in a dry place, so it should not be getting dull that quickly!Alternatives I have found that work good:I have been on the hunt to find a razor that matches up with the Gillette products for a price that is less. In that search, I found DorcoUSA razors. Have you heard of dollar shave club, I'd bet you have. Well DorcoUSA makes the razors that supply dollar shave club. If you buy straight from them you can get the million blade razors that you would buy and get 3 blades for $20 with Gillette, and instead get 20 blades and cream for $16. I have found the lifespan of the cartridges has been very good, not quite as sharp as Gillette but good enough when considering price. I have also tried Harry razors, I found the blades on these razors get dull really quickly, not worth it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This razor gave me a really close-up shave. Â The only problem I has was shaving up around where a mustache goes.It took a while to warm up to it, but it is now my go to razor. Compared to the ProGlide, the ProShield is 1/8th inch thicker. This makes it great for fast touchups with only water when in a pinch. It also still retains the single trimmer blade on the back of the unit for better edging, eyebrows or other usage. I think I benefited most with the ProShield razor by using it for quick light duty shaves with just hot water. The downside is that it is pretty large for a razor, and in areas like below the nose. All in all, I really like the new Fusion ProShield razor, it does a great job of adding some extra protection right before the blades without using shave gel for most areas. Many Thanks to Gillette for letting me try their Fusion ProShield razorfor free in exchange for my honest opinion. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The Gillette Fusion ProShield Chill Razor with Flexball Technology is simply the best razor I have ever used. This razor was provided to me for free from Gillette in exchange for my honest review. And honestly, I love it! It comes with 2 razors and the razor handle. At first, I was very skeptical because while I know Gillette offers quality products, I find them to be expensive. Around 6 months ago, I joined one of the razor "clubs" out there and began receiving their razors. Well, I can tell you that you get what you pay for. While the club razors will suffice, they don't last very long. In addition, the shave you get is not even close to the closeness that the ProShield Chill Razor provides. I'm choosing quality over quantity here and Gillette fits the bill. Some of the features I found especially useful are the fact that the razor really seemed to reduce any irritation I've felt with other razors. The cooling or "Chill" technology really works! I'm also a huge fan of the precision trimmer that allows me to edge my beard accurately. Finally, the FlexBall (which I've never used before) was great and fits the contours of my face very well. It doesn't matter which way you shave - this razor gets it done. Period. To summarize, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good, quality razor. The blades may be a bit expensive (around $24 for 4 blades, according to Amazon), but you'll definitely appreciate the close, comfortable shave, the flexibility of the handle, and the cooling technology is definitely a plus too! I'll be using this razor going forward! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
