This is my third Gillette Fusion razor, but first Flexball. The first thing I noticed upon opening the package is the new flexball technology designed to curve and form to your face better. I was very familiar with the products branding prior to trying as I saw many commercials and pass the display at Target every time I visit (which is waaaay too often).Onto the review! The grip of the handle is very similar to other Gillette products. It fits nicely in my hand and has soft grips that allow you to hold on even when wet. It uses the same disposable blades as the standard fusion and operates identically. The only noticeable difference is the flexball. I first tested the flexball by moving it back and forth with my finger. I was surprised at the range of motion it could achieve. However, in actual practice it really doesn't need to move as much as it is able for my face. The flexball adds another axis of motion to give a better shave to the contoured parts of my face. I had a much easier time shaving my neck and underneath my lip than with my Fusion. But it's still not a perfect shave. There were two or three small patches that I did not get a complete, down to the skin shave. That's why it gets four stars instead of 5.I've used the product twice now, and still haven't nicked myself. The Fusion usually cut me at least once per shave. I usually need to shave once every three-four days, so this adds up. I have a fairly gaunt face, so its easy to cut. Included in the kit was some Gillette shaving cream. I usually use store brand, so I can't identify if the proglide blades hydrate better, or if the Gillette shaving cream is just better. If your looking at getting a Gillette razor, I would recommend buying this product over the fusion. However, if you have a razor that your happy with, this shave isn't going to be life altering enough to warrant getting a new one. Overall, a good product that yields superior (but not fantastic) results. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I received this product for free from Gillette.I wasn't sure what to expect with this new razor but whatever expectations I did have went out the door after I tried it just once. I've since used it only one additional time. This pack came with a free sample of gel and the bottle of gel indicated that it used "mess free" technology. And you know what? It works! It's awesome! There is absolutely no extra gel that comes squirting out after you are done pressing the button. Everything stays in the container! I love it! Now, to the razor itself: It's great! It's slick! I like the comfort of having those little rubber pads both on the top AND bottom of the razor blades. And, the rolly-ball feature makes shaving super easy because it just goes with your flow! You will want to try this razor and the shaving gel that comes with it. Caution: The gel must not be for "sensitive" skin because each time that I use it I end up, as always, getting some around my lips and on my lips and it caused a stingy sensation on my lips. It also tingled a bit on my face so that's why I am thinking that it isn't for "sensitive" skins. It still works great and I love the "no mess" bottle! No more icky, old, shaving cream stuck on the outside of your gel container.Take a look at my before and after pictures! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
First of all, thank you to Gillette for sending me a free Fusion Proshield razor with Flexball technology for review. The shave: This razor is advertised to not tug or tear at your hair while you shave, so I thought I'd test it out by shaving/trimming my beard that was about 3/8"-1/2" long. I shaved my neck and cheeks and skipped my normal trim with my electric trimmer first. I used Gillette Fusion Proglide Sensitive shaving gel + skin care prior to my shave. As advertised, this razor gave me a close, comfortable shave without a single tug or tear despite going through long facial hair. The Flexball technology really does a nice job of helping to keep the razor following the contours of your face. Overall, this was the most comfortable shave I've had in a long time (maybe ever). While I was not in the market for a new razor, this experience convinced me to switch and I'll be buying refills for this razor when I run out of the supplied cartridges. Appearance: The first thing I noticed with this razor is its feel. It has a sturdy, metal frame that just looks and feels like it is high quality. At a glance, the razor itself doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary. Gillette Fusion Proglide Sensitive shaving gel + skin care: While this review is specifically for the razor, I liked this gel enough that I thought I would include it. My main comment is that after I shave I (always) use aftershave to help reduce skin irritation. After shaving with this gel, I did not feel any irritation and skipped the aftershave. Even the next day, I had no skin irritation. Summary: If you are in the market for a new razor, I have yet to try a razor that gives a better shave than Gillette Fusion ProShield Razor with Flexball Technology. You won't regret it. If you're not in the market for a new razor, I'd still put this on your list when you use up your current supply of razors/cartridges. While you're at it, you won't regret trying Gillette Fusion Proglide Sensitive shaving gel + skin care either! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
