Our goal is to make it easier to incorporate sustainable choices into your routine, while also being kind to your skin.
Can women use Planet KIND?
Absolutely! Planet KIND products are for anyone looking for easy and accessible options to make more sustainable choices for their shaving and skin care routine. Here’s a quick test to see if you should use our products: Do you have skin? Do you live on this planet? If you answered yes to either of those, you’re in the right place. If you didn’t, we have a few more questions…

Planet KIND Sustainability
What makes Planet KIND sustainable?
Planet KIND is the first shaving and skincare lineup where the razor handle and product packaging are made with recycled plastic and paper or infinitely recyclable aluminum, making it easier to make sustainability part of your shaving and skincare routine. And, to help consumers make even more of an impact with their purchase, every Planet KIND product purchased prevents 10 plastic bottles from entering the ocean, thanks to our partnership with Plastic Bank. How do I recycle Planet KIND?
Choosing kindness is the easiest option. Recycling our products is the second easiest. Our face wash, shave cream, moisturizer and paper razor and blades packaging are curbside recyclable in most municipalities. To recycle our blades, blade containers and razor handles, we’ve partnered with TerraCycle – click here for more details.
How many plastic bottles are used to make one Planet KIND by Gillette handle?
The Planet KIND handle is made from 60% rPET, the same type of plastic found in water bottles. Based on weight, the equivalent of one recycled water bottle is used to make one Planet KIND razor handle.
How many plastic bottles are used for one Planet KIND face wash and moisturizer package?
The Planet KIND Moisturizer and Face Wash packages are made from 85% plastic, which is commonly sourced from recycled milk jugs and yogurt cups. Based on weight, one recycled one-gallon milk jug can be used to make three new Planet KIND bottles.
Why not make products from 100% recycled materials?
Our packages and handles need to be strong and secure—basically what we’re all aiming to be. The high heat and pressure that are applied during the current recycling processes typically make recycled plastic slightly weaker. To ensure our handles and packs have the required strength – which also correlates to safety, especially with razor blades & handles – we supplement the recycled plastic with a small amount of new plastic. We hope to continue to improve on this process so we can eventually increase the percentage of PCR we use in our products.
What does the Planet KIND partnership with Plastic Bank entail?
No one can do it alone. We rely on you to recycle our products, and we rely on partners like Plastic Bank to make your impact even greater. Through our partnership with Plastic Bank, every Planet KIND product you purchase will prevent the 10 plastic bottles from entering the ocean. We’re on a mission to prevent 10 million water bottles from entering the ocean this year! Join us and learn more here.
Do I have to send all Planet KIND products to TerraCycle to recycle?
No. Only our razors, blades and blade case must be recycled through TerraCycle. The rest (including aluminum jars used with our shave cream) can be recycled through most curbside programs. Learn more about recycling Planet KIND products here.
What if my city/county doesn’t offer curbside recycling?
Not all places offer municipal recycling services. Check to see if your city has a drop-off facility in your area. If none are available, consider looking for independent recycling facilities.
What can I send through the TerraCycle recycling program?
All brands of blades and razors (handles and disposable units and replaceable-blade cartridge units), rigid plastic packaging, and flexible plastic bag packaging can be recycled.
What happens to the waste sent to TerraCycle?
Once collected, the waste is broken down and separated by material. This is where the recycling magic happens. Plastics are cleaned and pelletized to be recycled into new products, such as picnic tables and park benches. Metal materials are sent for smelting and conversion to new alloys.
Does my shipment have to weigh a certain amount before I can send it in?
No, your shipment can be any size. However, larger shipments are usually more eco-friendly and reduce the environmental impact even further.
What else is Gillette doing to address sustainability in the rest of its products?
Planet KIND is a big step in the right direction for our broader sustainability journey. We’re excited to be among the first self-care brands to try sustainability at a scale such as this. As part of Gillette’s 2030 Sustainability Goals, we expect to use 100% recyclable packaging with significant progress made towards this goal by 2023. Planet KIND Ingredients
Kind to skin means using safe, gentle ingredients and providing you with full transparency about what goes into each product. Learn all about how we formulate our products here.
Is Planet KIND Vegan?
Our face wash, moisturizer and shave gel don’t contain animal or animal-derived ingredients. However, unlike your “vegan” friend that says bacon doesn’t count, we hold ourselves to very high standards when it comes to declaring our products vegan. We don’t just look at what goes inside our products, but also the materials used in the manufacturing process. We don’t currently claim that our products are vegan because there are some animal-derived products used in the manufacturing process of the bottles, as well as the razor handle molding.
The biggest challenge in developing fully vegan products is the widespread use of zinc soap (also called zinc stearate) in the plastics industry. This ingredient is used in very small amounts for its “non- stick” properties to help release a plastic object from its mold during manufacturing. The stearic acid used to make zinc soap is usually derived from animal fat (tallow).
We’re working to find a better alternative and will keep you posted as we continue improving products.
Does Planet KIND Test on Animals? Is Planet KIND Cruelty-free?
Planet KIND products are not tested on animals. However, we don’t currently have an official cruelty-free certification. It is something we are looking into for our products. We’ll let you know as soon as we have an update.
Is Planet KIND Gluten-free?
Currently, we haven’t officially tested our products to verify whether they are gluten-free.
